Poynton Music School is based on a programme of group classes, which many participants believe are more fun, more effective and offer greater value for money than 1 to 1 tuition.
Learning in a group inspires and motivates participants to continue learning. It fosters a sense of community, making the classes a great social activity.
The courses last for 10 weeks, and weeks 5 and 10 are both review lessons of the material learned previously. Each weekly session is based on a different song, which is used to learn new techniques and to develop your playing.
Whilst there is a syllabus for all courses, the songs change each term. This means that if you wish to repeat a level, you will have the opportunity to review the same techniques within the context of completely new music.
In between the 10 week courses, one off workshops are offered which focus on specific musical areas or genres.

What students say...
'I am so glad to have found Poynton Music School as a mature student. It's never too late to learn. I have been enjoying a range of group guitar classes for a year now and I'm now tempted by the ukulele. It's great to have clear guidance from Rik to enable us to have fun playing a range of songs together'.
(Hev Taylor, Guitar)
'I've done a few of Rik's courses and they never disappoint! I'm on the improvers ukulele course at the moment and really enjoying it. The classes give just the right amount of challenge to keep me working hard to better my skills and techniques. Also, it's great fun to play with a group of like-minded people'.
(Brenda Griffin De Tapa, Ukulele)
